Uber Driver: How do you know if you're making or losing money?
Without a control system, it's impossible to know if you're making a profit or working for free. See the 4 indicators that every driver must follow.
The problem of the driver who does not control
Imagine working 8 hours and, at the end of the day, not knowing if you won R$ 50 or R$ 250. It seems impossible, but that's exactly what happens to drivers who do not calculate the actual profit.
The app shows the raw. The costs are scattered: fuel here, oil change there, an unexpected overhaul. At the end of the month, the bank balance doesn't match expectations — and no one knows where the money went.
The 4 indicators you should track
1. Daily net income
What it is: Gross billing − commission − fuel − day maintenance
Goal: Set a daily floor (ex: "do not stop before R$ 150 liquids")
2. Cost per km
What it is: (fuel + maintenance) ÷ km driven in the month
Target: Must be below R$ 0,80/km for popular ethanol cars
3. Net revenue per hour
What it is: Net income ÷ hours worked
Target: Above R$ 20/h is reasonable; above R$ 30/h is very good
Occupancy rate
What it is: Hours with passenger ÷ hours online × 100%
Goal: Above 55% is considered good. Below 45%, review schedules and positioning.
